PRACTICAL AUTOMATION / CUSTOMER SUPPORT

AI agents for customer support

A support agent needs reliable business knowledge and a clear limit to its responsibilities. Start with one group of common questions that your approved help content already answers, then test how the agent behaves when that content is incomplete.

What to check before you build

START SMALL. CHECK THE RESULT.
01

Fix the source material first

Remove conflicting or outdated answers from the knowledge base. Identify which document is authoritative when two sources disagree.

02

Test difficult questions

Include ambiguous requests, missing information, account-specific questions, and requests outside the agent’s scope. Track incorrect confident answers separately from useful handoffs.

03

Design the handoff

Decide when a person takes over and what context they receive. Keep account changes, refunds, and other consequential actions behind appropriate permissions and review.

Your first pilot. Run the agent against a small set of resolved tickets before exposing it to customers. Have a support specialist assess the answers and review the failure cases together.
